In order to grow our business, we must be able to compete effectively for our 
clients’ investment management business. Historically, we have competed to 
attract assets to our management principally on the basis of:

         our clients; 
 
   •     the disciplined and repeatable nature of our investment process; 
 
   •     the quality of the service we provide to our clients and the duration 
         of our relationships with them; 

   •     the tenure and continuity of our management and investment 
         professionals; and 

   •     our track record of long-term investment excellence.  

Our ability to continue to compete effectively will also depend upon our 
ability to retain our current investment professionals and employees and to 
attract highly qualified new investment professionals and employees. We compete
in all aspects of our business with a large number of investment management 
firms, commercial banks, broker-dealers, insurance companies and other 
financial institutions.
